Looking at the statistics of just how many people are affected by mental health struggles especially coming back from the pandemic was very concerning. That number is not just a statistic it is something I saw in my loved ones. Seeing them struggle has a major effect on me and it is what made me very passionate about trying to find them the resources they needed. However, every time I would suggest something we were often met with roadblocks due to the decline in resources available and the issue of affordability.
Being able to find affordable care or even having access to mental health resources is a major issue that everyone I know who needed it faced. Our colleges and counselors had waitlists that were a few weeks to a few months long and there is a decrease in counselors taking insurance, making it very difficult to get them the help they needed. Seeing my loved ones struggle made me very passionate about trying to find them the resources they needed. R.O.S.E.S. is able to fill that gap. When I started working as an intern for the organization I knew that I would want to continue working on helping R.O.S.E.S. efforts. Working for the organization and with so many other hardworking members has been a great experience so far and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us and R.O.S.E.S.
